C huck Gottlich (Figure 1) was born in Dallas, Texas, on October 6, 1944. After graduating from Tulane University in 1966, he attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and graduated with the class of 1970. Th e University of California at San Francisco is where he fi nished his medical internship and fi rst year of residency. After being in the US Air Force for a period of 2 years, he did a second year of medical residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School beginning in July 1974 and completed his cardiology fellowship there in June 1977. Since that time, he has been practicing cardiology at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas (BUMC). He has taught many medical houseoffi cers and cardiologists in training. Over almost two decades, he also taught houseoffi cers and cardiologists in the coronary care unit at Parkland Hospital. Dr. Gottlich is one of the good guys and a pleasure to be around. He and his lovely wife, Honey, are the parents of two very successful off spring.
